| Contents | In the first part of this talk, I will introduce several concepts in information theory for uncertainty quantification. This topic is an introduction to information theory, which is accessible to undergraduate students who are familiar with basic probability and Lagrange multipliers (a constraint optimization problem). In the second part, which is aimed at graduate students and researchers, I will present reduced-order modeling of high-dimensional dynamical systems. The focus is on geophysical turbulent flows that mimic zonal jets and breaking solitons of the ocean. I will discuss how to estimate modeling parameters using sparse and incomplete data. | ||
