POSTECH SIAM STUDENT CHAPTER

The POSTECH SIAM Student Chapter (PSSC) was recently approved by the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM). The goal of the PSSC are the following:
  • To increase the awareness of Applied & Industrial Mathematics among POSTECH community
  • To promote basic research in mathematics leading to new methods and techniques useful to industry and science among POSTECH community
  • To provide media for exchange of information and ideas between mathematicians and other technical and scientific personnel among POSTECH community

Monthly Seminar

Once a month, one student speaker (or one study group) gives a talk on their field of study or the progress of their research and participants discuss the topic after the talk. Any student who wants to share their works can present. This program provides opportunities for students to gather and share their research area each other.

Study Groups

Students with the same research area can form a group and study, share, and discuss their interest together.  This program encourages a student to dive into their interests that are not in the regular course. The list of current study groups:

Hands-on Tutorials on Mathematical Programming

For those unfamiliar with Applied Mathematics, we provide some hands-on tutorials on Mathematical Programming such as physics informed neural networks, 3D circle fitting method, and naive image edge detection. This program provides opportunities to learn real-world math applications.
